They happened to drop by my church to perform a couple of songs for us. I first heard about them in 2008 I think and I didn't think they were that special to be honest. In fact yesterday was the first time I'd ever watched one of their videos, which happened to be their cover of payphone.
Now they do sing pretty well, but they definitely aren't Aguilera or Carey-type screamers who can belt out the craziest pitches or anything. They're more pleasant than impressive. Their looks didn't charm my pants off which is what a lot of guys say they would do either. To be honest they looked a little old to me even.
So I walked into church today expectingmerely a pleasant (if somewhat bland) time.
Then they came onto stage, and they started speaking. What I didn't expect is that I'd practically fall in love with them on the spot. Though I did enjoy it, it wasn't their music that won me over. Rather it was the whole package that... I dunno. Just got me so smitten. :3 And there and then what I thought was a forgettable pair suddenly became a supersuper big infatuation for me. I started to find them prettier (it's because of their presence) and I loved their Aussie accents (something which I didn't know until today that I take a liking to).
ZOMG LOOK AT THEM THEY'RE SO CUTE ;_;
Then they sang One Republic's Secrets.
AND THEN I REALISED THAT SONIA IS MY FAVOURITE LEE (she's the one with the guitar).
Although I think her sister's prettier I like Sonia's singing more! Her style's a lot more obvious in Secrets than in Payphone. AND I LOVE IT. I don't care how old she'll be next time I swear when I get a job I will find her and I will marr-
Oh snap. oh snap. :'(
:(
Feels like my heart's been ripped from my chest.
This picture is so Lower Sec if you know what I mean
Well. Looks like my heart'll be broken and I'll be lonely for the next three yea- OMG THIS GIRL IS SO CUTE

So, I haven't posted in a very long time.
Since March actually. That's like. A good three months in between?
Let's get conventions out of the way either way.
SONG OF THE DAY: As Long As You Love Me by Justin Bieber
I can imagine the look on your face right now.
At least it's not Jedward OH SNAP
Yeah, Justin Bieber. For real. Don't go all "But it's Justin Bieberrrrr" and not give it a listen. It actually is pretty okay! Apparently it's supposed to be him and his musical style maturing, so he decides to sing over a (sadly not really heavy enough but possessing has that distorted sax noise which is so addictive) heavily dubstep-inspired instrumental. And surprisingly... It's pretty good. Quite catchy. Stuck in my head, even. The song was playing throughout my head during the recent exams. At least it was alternating between that and China Wine HAHAHAHA.
I'm sure most of if not all of you know about the recent controversy with Pastor Kong Hee and the funds thing. I don't have much to say about that. But something I do have things to say about is one of the by-products of aforementioned events. And that is CHINA WINE.
Here's the video.
It's by Sun Ho, who's Pastor Kong's wife. And this tune is fine.
But not because it's particularly good music (although this was stuck in my head alongside Bieber but it isn't the song of the day because DON'T QUESTION ME). But because it's so... insane.
Finally I've found a way to describe it. It's batshit insane, that's why I like it so much.
I mean just watch the thing. In the first 5 seconds we have a Jamaican guy screaming at us in a super epic voice. Then he says "RIGHT ABOUT NOW" and right after that you struggle to comprehend whatever the hell he's saying, making out only the most obvious words being "CHINA WINE" and for reasons not initially obvious "MENTALLY ILL *something something* ENERGY GUN ELEPHANT MAN". How can you not immediately be charmed by something that's so completely nuts.
Then the first line goes "It's the Carribean connection, Asian invasion coming to your residence". This line itself has haunted me endlessly. I don't know why. But the way she says Asian invasian is so intruiging. It's like a worm in my ear. Albeit a strangely pleasant one.
Strangely pleasant indeed.
Then Sun starts trying to speak Jamaican-bastardized English. She succeeds wonderfully on the count that I can't make out a single thing she says, which I assume is what Jamaican English is about. Then the song really begins.
If the song doesn't get stuck in your head I swear something's wrong with you.
I hated the song after the first time I listened to it. Then on subsequent listens I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I don't know why. Maybe it's the ridiculous premise of the video (with an actual storyline at the end which leads up to the next MV - Brilliant!) or maybe it's the incomprehensible lyrics. Maybe it's the presence of Elephant Man who looks like he's downright crazy.
Who do I listen to? Well. You've probably heard of them. *Ba dum tss*
For the sake of using the picture I'll just do so since I just tried to crack a joke.
Used in the sentence "get the bookseller, esburne!"
Goodnight friends, study hard.
As long as you love me,

I feel he looks more normal here than in the video to be terribly honest.
Most likely however it's probably because the whole package is so... orthodox. That it appeals to me.
It has the black guys rapping, the catchy chorus and its verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-outro thing that's so absolutely common that I LOVE IT. Don't hate on me for loving mainstream man. If it's catchy I'll like it.

Random, if you ever get captcha codes when downloading stuff (which I always do since I'm a pirate and I pirate things) one of the words is actually useless. Usually the blurrier one. The real captcha is the usually more difficult probably-made-up word while the other is just a scan from a book. By doing this they're asking you to fill in the captcha and help them read a word that they need reading (since they're starting to digitize books but they can't possibly transcibe everything themselves so they force us to do it in captcha codes), hence our two-word captcha as shown below. If you know which one's the word to be transcribed, you can fill in random crap for that one and they'll let you off!
So now they have an entry that what should "bookseller" is actually "whatisthisbullshit". Congrats to me for being a troll.

I hate it.
I hate it when people lie to me
And I hate it when people talk about something in front of me but refuse to tell me about it
Least you could do is talk about it behind my back or something

Today
Today was a really shitty day. Ended alright though. Thanks everyone who tried cheering me up. (: I feel loved!
You still confuse me like hell.
You still confuse me like hell.
You make me wonder.
Sometimes you make me wonder what you're trying to do.
Sometimes you make me wonder what I mean to you.
Sometimes you make me wonder what you mean to me.
Sometimes you make me wonder why I even wonder so much about you.
Best thing is, I don't think I'll ever find out.

I am lazy.
I'm lazy to blog properly.
Open house today was okay/boring as a whole today.
But I'm super proud of Atlas and every other Meridian for putting on such a good show for the new J1s-to-be. (:
I'll blog about open house properly when the pictures go on facebook!

HAPPY NEW YEAR,
It's now 2012! Or at least it's been a couple of days since it's turned 2012. Could the world be ending soon!?
But first.
SONG OF THE DAY: Not In Love by Crystal Castles Ft. Robert Smith
I don't know why but this song moves me alot. It's both catchy and meaningful. And guess what: the awesome music video up there isn't even official. It's done by some person on YouTube who from what I see is really good at making music videos. Fits the song perfectly.
I haven't blogged in so long. I mean.
Practically a year has passed since I last blogged.
Still finding a use for this picture after all this time.
Holidays are gonna end soon, and I have realised that I have wasted my holidays. My greatest achievement this holiday was probably screwing up my body clock till beyond salvation. I sleep at 6am on most days and wake up at any time between 1-3. I am like a fat worm.
Let's do a day-by-day recount on what I did since the year passed.
On December 31st 2011, I went to Clarke Quay to celebrate New Years' with the second most random group of people I've ever been in a picture with. People in said group include Wilfred, Leon, Liying, Celestine, Joaquin and Michael My-Middle-Name-Is-Not-A-Name-But-A-Day Lim.
Okay granted, it's not really that random a group.
If you're wondering what's the most random picture I've ever been in, then this is it.
'
I only know two people in this picture.
The countdown was pretty fun. We got into a human train and skipped around for a couple of minutes. So I was holding onto this random Angmoh guy's shoulders while high-fiving the friendly (and undoubtedly drunk) Indian men who were littered about.
We then stayed over at Burger King at Ehub after a long and tiring journey to Pasir Ris from Clarke Quay.
Then went home at anout 6plus am, and died on the bed till 6pm that day LOL.
I don't remember what I did on the 2nd of January.
On the 3rd Wilfred and I went to collect the Atlas Mass Dance Tshirts which set me back by 50 over bucks since I had to cover for a few of the people who hadn't paid yet (SI BOON AND BIJIA). This is what the shirt looks like.
I admit it looks quite cock here but in real life it looks pretty good!
And due to the crazy sizes they have over at the tshirt printing shop, for some reason I fit in an S size shirt (which I mentioned before somewhere in this blog)
Let me reiterate though.
THAT'S RIGHT.
WEI LUN WEARING S.
Kay thanks.
On the 4th I went for training at Bedok reservoir. Dammit I haven't paddled in like how many weeks already. Then while sitting in the canoe my back felt damn pain. LIKE AN OLD MAN LIKE THAT WAH LAU.
I feel old, I'm turining 18 soon. ):
After paddling I went prawning with Chin Yue, Alvin Tubby Tan and subsequently Leon, since he came late.
It was interesting trying to get there, since we didn't properly know where the place was and all we had was an address and Google maps. So like real men we refused to ask for directions from people and we made our way to wherever Google maps said was the correct place. Eventually we did find the place, but it was tiring as hell.
The instructions from Google maps was something like this:
"Take bus 89 for approx. 6 minutes. (Blk 747A)
Walk approx. 900m down Pasir Ris Industrial Drive."
So we walked almost a kilometre without any shelter. We might has well have been walking in the core of the sun, cause it was FREAKING HOT.
Either way we found our way there and prawned for 3 hours (30 bucks for 3hours of prawning, not bad eh! Though it's still a bigass waste of money.).
Then we had dinner at Ananas BECAUSE IT ROCKS.
okay can.
Today I went to school for OGL briefing. It was more dancing than briefing to be honest. But whatever, I had fun either way. The turnout in the morning was pretty okay. I'd say nearly a hundred people came for the briefing? Though that's less than half the number of OGLs there are I think LOL. Then we went for lunch at Ananas (seriously it rocks) and when we came back, there were ONLY 28 PEOPLE THERE. 10 of which were from Atlas WOOHOO HAHAHA. Damn proud of my Atlasian OGLs hahahaha.
After that we stayed back in school for awhile to play some basketball, bridge and street soccer. I swear while running around my heart literally hurt, arteries clogged much. I need to do more sports, I gained like alot of holiday fats and any exercise'll do me good.
Random, but girls are confusing, seriously.
I made a pact with Wilfred. If we both don't get attached by the time we're 40, we'll both turn gay and move to California and get married. Preferably buy a dog too HAHAHAHA.
So girls, stay away from him. Serious. He's mine.
forever.
HAHAHAHA.
we were lovers, now we can't be friends, fascination ends, here we go again.
But first.
